Supplemental Nursing System aka SNS

I was reading a blog about pharmacology in nursing practice. The blog was hosted at the University of Texas at Arlington School of Nursing. The post I was reading asked why one would want to know if a mother is breastfeeding when prescribing drugs. The comments got me thinking. Hannah’s Early Breastfeeding Adventures
At 5 pounds, Hannah was born a very small baby. She was a couple weeks early, and I think if she’d been born on or after her due date she would have been at least 6 pounds like her older sister, Michelle.
Early babies tend to be more sleepy and Hannah was no exception. She got tired easily. When you combine that with her miniature little mouth, she was bound to end up struggling with breastfeeding. And she did. More on Hannah’s Early Breastfeeding Adventures

When I was researching pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding with my first, I was honestly the most nervous about breastfeeding. I expected my body to do the work and know just what to do with birthing, but to nurse my baby, both of us would have to work together to make it happen.
